Improving Health and Well-Being of Women and their Families in Nepal

About Us

Friends of Nepal Pariwar Foundation supports health services in Nepal for women and their families through a two partner organizations, BBP Pariwar and Bajra Samaj Nepal, both independent non profit organizations working in three districts.

BBP Pariwar supports two community based clinics managed by locally registered nonprofits in Sindhupolchowk and Kavre Districts. Clinics provide family planning, maternal and reproductive health and general family health services. Four nurse midwives are providing full time services in the two clinics with support from Friends of Nepal Pariwar Foundation and partial salary met from clinic income and sale of medicines. The objective is for clinics to become self supporting.

Bajra Samaj Nepal in Ramechhap District supports 45 scholarships for middle-high school age children, and annually organizes medical camps in three remote communities with a focus on women's reproductive health services and maternal checkups. Click here to read BSN's Annual Report.

Both organizations assit in repair and construction of community drinking water systems in rural areas.

The roots of this multilevel partnership stretch back 45 years when key individuals at each level worked together in a development project in a remote area of Nepal that focused on women's needs - health, reproductive health, income and education. Former project staff, volunteers and communities are now united by friendship and commitment to continue and sustain this development activity. Pariwar means "family" in Nepali.
